Tell me why this is Prescribed medicine ?

To get rid of acne, people use tretinoin (Altreno, Atralin, Avita, Retin-A). With other skin care and sun protection, tretinoin can also be used to get rid of fine lines and wrinkles (Refissa and Renova), as well as to improve uneven skin tone (Renova) and skin that feels rough (Renova). As a drug, tretinoin is in a group known as retinoids. It helps peel off damaged skin and clears out pores, which is how it works.

How to Use  Tretinoin Gel 0.025 %

As an oil (Altreno), a cream (Avita, Refissa, Renova, Retin-A), or a gel (Atralin, Avita, Retin-A), Tretinoin has different forms. Most people take Tretinoin every night before bed. It's important to carefully follow the directions on the label of your medication. If you don't understand something, ask your doctor or chemist to explain it. Stick to the directions when using tretinoin. Do not change how much you use or how often you use it. Only do what your doctor tells you to do.

Tretinoin will clear up acne, but it won't get rid of it. During the first 7 to 10 days that you take this medicine, your acne will probably get worse, with more red, flaky skin and acne spots. Anyway, keep using it, and the acne spots should go away. Usually, you need to take tretinoin every day for two to three weeks (and sometimes more than six weeks) before you start to see results.

Tretinoin might smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, and rough skin, but it doesn't get rid of them. If not, it could be up to 6 months before you start to feel better. If you stop taking tretinoin, the change might go away over time. Once your skin is clean, use only makeup that aren't medicated. Lotions, astringents, perfumes, and other skin care products that have a lot of alcohol, peppermint, spices, or lime can irritate your skin. This is especially true when you are first starting to use tretinoin. Unless your doctor tells you to, don't use any other skin medicines, especially benzoyl peroxide, hair removers, salicylic acid (to get rid of warts), or dandruff shampoos with sulphur or resorcinol. Ask your doctor if you should wait to use tretinoin if you have recently used any of these skin medicines. If you're dry, your doctor may tell you to use moisturiser.

If you want to use any kind of tretinoin, do these things: 1. Thoroughly wash your hands and the skin that is hurt with water and soft, bland soap. Do not use medicated, rough, or drying soap. Twenty to thirty minutes should pass before you put on tretinoin to make sure your skin is completely dry.

2. Put the medicine on your skin using clean fingers.

3. Put on just enough medicine to cover the area that hurts with a thin layer.

4. Only put the medicine on the skin area that is hurt. Be careful not to get tretinoin in your eyes, ears, mouth, nose, or sexual area.

Do not put it on sunburned skin. You can get a copy of the manufacturer's details from your chemist or doctor.
